After dinner drinks and stroll around the grounds

We went back to our room and got a fresh pour each. We then went down stairs and roamed the grounds,  Soaking in the ambiance and checking in the layers of art was a fun experience . We walked out to the beach and saw the full moon and some strange print plant life. We thought about getting back in the pool but then thought better of it because we did not have her suits on underneath her clothes this time.

Birthday Dinner of Duck

Pao restaurant is an Asian fusion themed restaurant the interior has a giant gold Dome on the roof and a large gold unicorn as a centerpiece sculpture. We had the best table in the house just underneath the good end of the unicorn and looking out towards the beach. Once the food started arriving I became a little overwhelmed and neglected to take many pictures. That's always a sign of a very good meal as I'm too involved to try and capture it. I ordered a dry aged whole Peking Duck and it was the best stuck I have had outside of China.  Leslie got the chirashi Sashimi platter with the tasty rice. We also had a king crab appetizer and we're very pleased with all of our dishes.

The massage afterglow!

Our chakras were still tingling when we went out into the world of Faena.  One of the receptionists gave us a tour of hotel.  We got to see the bars,  the restaurants, pool area, the theater and the beach area.  He gave us two drinks at the end of the tour, bubbly and Cabernet.  It was still too early for the room but we had anticipated this and had our suits on under our clothes.  We were ready for the pool, so we jumped in and floated for a while.  Sergio came and told us out room was ready so off we went.  In out luggage was some fine wine and french champagne. All we needed was an ice bucket and some wine glasses.  Room service obliged and happy hours commenced.

Birthday Stay-cation

We had been home for a few weeks and my birthday was imminent, so it seemed reasonable for a one night stay with dinner at Faena Hotel in Miami Beach.  I booked a partial ocean view and a couples massage to round it all out.  This hotel is a gem.  There are a set of 8 large panels as you enter the foyer.  Each painting is 15 feet tall and 8 feet wide and exquisitely detailed.  Everywhere we went there was art and beautiful creations.

This is one of the eight panels in the entryway

We arrived at noon and since the room was not yet available we went up to the spa right away.  It was a bit blustery outside but we sat out there under an overhang anyway.  We had a tasty snack from room service while watching patrons head back and forth to the beach.  Of course they had to pass the 3 million dollar Golden Mastodon on their way.  We sat up on the third floor and could see the beach and the dome of the restaurant.  A small shower finally let loose and we watched all of the folks retreat from the beach. Perfect timing for us as our masseuses were ready.  The couples massage room was a beauty.  There were murals with exotic birds and reptiles painted all over each wall.  We had singing bowls placed on out nexus points and we could feel the vibrations right through to our chakras.

Hmmm, anyone leave a large set of herbivore bones covered in gold leaf?
