There are a few museums on site at the Botanical Gardens. The first was a museum of the Northern Peoples located in the main office building. The second was a natural history museum located in a historic building from 1882. This is Hokkaido's oldest museum and both the building and the glass display cases are designated "National Treasures." Inside are taxidermized animals including the only existing specimen of the Ezo wolf and a husky that went on an expedition to the South Pole
