10 June 2025 Osaka: Dealing With the Flu

When went to the doctor he gave me a covid / influenza test and I tested positive for the flu.  He also used sort of scope to first look in the back of my throat, then he shot that probe right up my nose and looked at my sinuses.  All looked pretty good at that point but he went further and sent the probe deeper into my nose and looked down at my larynx.  By making different sounds, my vocal chords would open enough for him to look past.  Low and behold he discovered the infection here, deeper in my airways.  Diagnosis obtained, he wrote prescriptions and we paid approximately $125.  The pharmacy was actually next door so we went and filled them.  A pack of antivirals, a set of acetaminophen for fever, a pill for throat pain and a pack of Chinese herbal medicine powders.  This was the routine for two days, sleep as late as possible, wake up and take the Chinese herbal powder. Eat and take other meds, nap in the afternoon and try not to give it to Leslie.  An all day the rain outside was relentless, so the sting of not visiting the Expo was partially softened.  We heard from the cousins that they had made it to the Expo but felt like drowned rats by the all day heavy rain.
