We had already scheduled our visit when Pope Francis died. After his death, there is a delay of three weeks before the conclave began. Luckily for us the new pope was chosen rather quickly so we did not have to deal with the crowds associated with a conclave. As it turned out no one even checked our tickets, they x-rayed our stuff but no scanning of our ticket.
First some lunch
A cute rustic place
Spaghetti
Carbonara
Ravioli
We filled in the areas we have already visited
Nice painting
It is a hot one
We have arrived
An obelisk
Saints and martyrs
A very grand building
The giant entrance
Large scale statues
The people are so small
Looking back out at the square
Giant doors
Nice blue sky
Two planes practicing for the military parade
It was pretty crowded but still very impressive
The scale is huge
Michelangelo worked on the dome for 20 some years right up to his death
The marble inlay to incedible
Love the light beams
Happy campers
So bright
A secret door?
Very old
Very gold
Under the columns
The dome is immnese
Quite beautiful too
With another opening at the very top
448 feet above the floor
Dove
A line for a blessing
Each side knave is elaborate
Mary
She is locked up
Works by the masters
Popes everywhere
No incense today
Prayer was open
Even the secondary domes are great
Impressive
Massive doors
Back outside
46 feet tall
Hedgehog
A bird
Owl you doing?
Another dove
We headed back it to see the gift shop
It is toned down slightly in this corridor
Watch the bees

A listing of the dates that the various popes died
This looked like a correction needed to be made
Francis has not made it to the list yet
