We woke up from a half decent night's sleep. The first night is always difficult. We ate, drank our tea and were out before noon. We knew that there was a festival and parade today but not when or where it could be found. So we walked along Odori park towards the radio tower. We passed fountains and workers along the way. When we reached the large fountain we found the info booth. They were most helpful with an English language newsletter with info for the entire month. We were told that the parade would reach Odori park at 2 PM. We took off for the fish market to get lunch but passed all the floats on the way. So we inspected all the shrines and then they started off. We watched them head off and we also headed off for some lunch. After lunch we walked along a huge underground mall until we got to our pre-determined grocery. We got assorted items and took a taxi back.
