28 May 2023 Dover: The White Cliffs of Dover

Dover and the cliffs!  The key to our AirBnB was actually under the mat in front of the front door and the white cliffs of Dover were in our backyard.  As an added bonus we had an grotto of sorts in a cave in the cliffs behind the house. We asked Ashton if he wanted to come inside and have a spot of tea.  He said he would like that and he took the house tour with us.  We whipped up a gyokuro tea and I think he liked it. The sun was shining bright and we immediately headed out to the waterfront.  Dogs, swimmers and Sunday afternoon strolling types were everywhere.  A group of thirty or so people were clustered on the beach with specialized equipment.  We had to stop and observe the behavior of these type of peoples.  Half of the people had just been swimming they were wearing large full body "Dry Jackets."  The jackets were absorbent on the inside and were windproof on the outside as we felt the teeth of the wind a few times.  They were part of an organization that helps people train to swim the channel.  The gal we talked to was going to swim it as part of a relay.  We walked over to where there was some live music and then into town to M&S for the prerequisite whole chicken!  Back to the pad to cook and warm up!

Behind the curtain is the grotto

So exotic looking

The inside was really big.  A cheese board with ham and croissants!

As it turned out the day was so nice we did not really want to sit in a cave
