We are taking it slow today. Partly it is due to a lack of sleep, partly it is due to jet lag but mostly it due to caution. We simply do not want to over do it and run ourselves down. This is the leisurely travel we have always dreamed of. No need to try to get every possible tourist attraction done in a couple of days. We are here for 10 days so we can take our time. So, after sleeping in, we started to make breakfast. Unfortunately the power went out three minutes before I started the stove. In South Africa they are shutting down the power for 2 to 3 hours each day. Load shedding is the term they use. It is supposedly for maintenance of the old transmission lines. I was not concerned as the stove is a gas stove and does not need electricity, right? Wrong, the ignitor is electrically powered. We searched high and low for a lighter with no success. However. on the second round of searching I found a pack of matches. Yippiee the breakfast can commence. Scrambled eggs for everyone! After eating we saw a mongoose outside our place. A Yellow Mongoose to be exact. There were two of them scooting across the lawn, occasionally stopping to eat a bug or two. We then walked down tp the beach. Lots of folks were out enjoying the day. Some were out for the Heritage Day Celebrations and some were out for water sports like swimming and surfing. Lots of folks were running and jogging. We also saw fishing, picnicking and hookah smoking.

My monster burger with a fried egg, bacon, cucumbers (raw and pickled0, two kinds of cheese and a piece of lettuce. When I ordered the burger and asked for the salad instead of fries the waitress gave me a look. We discussed the look, was she perplexed by the desire for a salad even though I am eating a giant burger?
