The tickets that we bought at the Duomo were for three locations and the last location was the oldest church in Salerno. Just a few blocks away we found the church of San Giorgio, a baroque masterpiece. This was once part of a convent of Benedictine nuns and dated to the 9th century. It has remained a church all this time but has seen many renovations over the centuries. The ceiling is the most beautiful part of the church, it is simply stunning.
The things we see on our walks
Passing by the cathedral
Popped into this building but the church is next door
Right away we see some incredible tiles on the floor
An elaborate entryway
Shall we enter?
Mary says yes, please go in
Ta Da
Every inch in decorated
From the floor to the ceiling
So many panels
Baroque at its best
Hmmmm, any sins to get off my chest?
No expectation of privacy
Hey there little saint
The centerpiece of the altar
Pretty compact with a huge painting behind
Lion feet
Vivid colors
The entire ceiling is painted
Mamma mia!
A very compact organ
These keys have seen better days
Another church just a block away
Back to the house
In time for the dog parade
