12 April 2025 Salerno: A Walk to the South

We took another three mile walk today but this time to to the south.  The promenade does not extend much further past our starting point but we were still walking along the water.  We saw people in the water but they looked cold and next to them were people in jackets.  It is probable like it was in Florida where visitors from the north think it is warm and locals think it is chilly.  We returned on an inland street and window shopped in a variety of shops and buildings.  The most unique are the vending machine shops.  Open fronted buildings with a variety of vending machines selling everything from beer to condoms to pregnancy tests.  Most every shop closes from 1 to 4 in the afternoon so nearly everything was closed, not a problem, less pressure to buy.

Some kayakers

The fin of a free diver.  Probably fishing for urchins or shellfish

The monk wants a table for two

A boatyard on the beach

Odd graffiti and death notifications

Turtle!

The beach cabanas have not been reassembled yet for the summer season

The architecture in this side of town is fewer stories and jumbled together

Nice color schemes

We stopped in a mom and pop shop for stuffed artichokes

And home made ravioli

The canneolloni looked good but not this tile

The menu was extensive

New readers for Leslie

A display of knobs

The neighborhood watch here are vigilantes

Death notices are plastered up along the streets

Layers and layers of them

Graffiti done nicely

I wonder if the graffiti was make before the electrical boxes went in

This is a take on the name of the region of Italy that contains Salerno.  The outline is vaguely like that  of a gun

A beautiful church building

With some sort of a chapel on the end

Giant chocolate easter eggs ready for the holiday

The full moon in the mist

When the moon hits your eye

Like a big pizza pie, that's Italy
