We started out our morning by popping frozen croissants into the oven. The directions were in Italian so we did not feel the need to translate so early in the morning. So it was not what we would call a success, overdone on the outside and raw dough on the inside. We peeled them open, flipped them over and put then back into the oven. The end result was less of a success than the intermediate state. Chalk one up for chaos. Our lunch excursion was much more fruitful and we had a delightful meal by the sea. Pepe Nero translates to black pepper and that was the name of the restaurant. We had a great fried calamari with caramelized onions and a balsamic glaze starter. The squids were whole and only an inch long, very cute and very tasty. We were served us three kinds of bread over the course of the meal. We then had mains and also had wine, when in Rome after all. We even split two desserts that were superb. After that we waddled back to the place, regrouped and then went back out for a nice stroll.
Too much on the exterior
Raw in the interior? No problem, open the raw part and expose it to the heat
Then discard in the trash
