27 April 2025 Salerno: Ferry Ride to Maiori

The ferry to Maiori was much smaller than the one we took to Amalfi.  It also runs fewer times during the day so we booked the 10:10 ferry which definitely ate into our leisurely morning routine.  It was a bright sunny day with just a touch of a breeze.  We arrived at 10:00 and got right onto the ferry.  We watched the inevitable stragglers fast walking up to the ferry right up to the departure time.  This ferry motored much closer to the shore and we could see the small towns float by.  Maiori was the third stop on the route and a good half of the folks disembarked with us.  We walked along the beach, found an artsy ceramic shop, turned at the pedestrianized street and wandered some more.  We had tried to get some tea at a restaurant but we were off by 20 minutes so after wandering we returned to the restaurant for a delightful lunch.  The next segment of the exploration was a walk to Minori.

We could have bought some fresh fish to take on  the ferry with us

A passenger's delightful bouquet

Full occupancy did not occur until after a few stops

Leaving Salerno behind

Seriously large cliffs

The waiter recommended the octopus, but he neglected to tell Mara that it was whole and we were not quite sure that it had been gutted

Leslie enjoyed a hearty caprice salad

I had a days long hankering for veal or chicken parmigiana.  The closest I could find was eggplant parmigiana and a breaded chicken cutlet.  So I piled one on top of the other and behold the chicken and the eggplant parmigiana

A very large akita joined the lunch crowd

Castle and tower ruins are everywhere

This may be the process for making limoncello

Of which there are many types
