More statues

Back at stop 5 we find these nice statues the first one has a bullet hole in it from the 1916 uprising.

Dinner and Jazz

We find ourselves back at the Lincoln in for dinner. It was as delightful for dinner as it was for lunch. The bonus was that a four piece jazz band setup and man with a groovin!  Guess who was still there, doodle drawing man.

The Museum of Decorative Arts

This museum takes the cake for oddness. Not only does it have a very strange mixture of items but it is laid out like a maze! We had to ask two different people how to get to some of the displays.  Even after looking through an entire floor we find alcoves we missed entirely.  I was blown away by how many hats were on display.  I photographed less than half of them.

Lunch at Lincoln Inn

We were quite hungry and looked around for a place to eat.  We saw the Lincoln in but it didn't appear to be open. We cross the street and stuck our heads in and sure enough there was one guy at the bar and one waitress. So we came in set up shop, ordered and before you know it the whole place was full. We had a great lunch but the strange man that was there at the beginning was still there.  When we left I snapped a picture of him clandestinely. He was making a very strange doodle or cartoon, I couldn't be sure which.  This neighborhood is where Oscar Wilde was born and where James Joyce met his wife.

The National Gallery in Dublin

Once again this museum was an eclectic mix.  Old masters, impressionists and post modern artists.  The elevator was very cool.  It was a small collection but better than the rain.

Odds and Ends

While on the bus we saw a horse drawn carriage that was being used in a film.  I saw some strange chips called "scratch my pork"!  The street lamps.  A great portico and an old troop carrier.  Some strange stone monkey beasties on a window.

A rainy day in Dublin

We started out the morning with a tasty breakfast. Then we walked over to the hop on hop off and stood in the rain for a while to get on a bus. Everybody had the same idea so people kept getting on but nobody left the bus. I took a couple of pictures through the rain soaked windows and we decided it was going to be a museum day!
