We did research. We read articles in the National Geographic and looked at youtube videos. We were prepared for something spectacular. However we were not prepared for house spectacular it really is. The amount of detail is unbelievable. The scope of the building is hard to understand. To top of it all off that it was built in 37 years was just incredible. There was a carved rock wall that was 35 feet long and the details were exquisite. The planning involved and the skill of the craftsmen is inspiring. Each window opened up to a specific direction and framed a specific view.
Our guide's name was Tim. He was very knowledgeable and has been a guide for 20 years. He was able to show us details about the architecture, the renovations, the ledgends that were illustrated and their significance.
We saw monks, tour groups and a wedding party.
