We drove back from Barcelona on the 5th and stayed in Cullera for the night. In the morning we got back in the car for the 6 hour drive to Fuengirola, just west of Malaga. Leslie and I were both registered drivers on the rental car so she was able to help out with the driving. Usually the placement of the steering wheel decides who will be the driver but since we had such long segments to drive we decided to share the load. We hugged the coast of Spain for the most part, heading south and then turning west. Lots of tunnels, national parks and mountain passes were the highlights of our drive. We were surprised by the thoroughly modern city of Benidorm.
If we add this road trip to the one we took in 2022, it would be a big circle around Spain
Lots of mountains on the trip
Some we go around
Some we tunnel through
Two layers of geography, mountain in the distance and a gorge in the foreground
A unique way of shoring up the loose rock face
Dwellings built into the rocks
More hoodoos with dwellings in them
A line of golden trees
Driving up and down hill after hill after mountain after mountain
We could see far off in the distance
We are in Fuengirola
A nice harbor
Looking for a parking place
Our home for the next three days
Off in the distance
Time for dinner
Parmigiana cheese
The sun is shining off this building
My dessert
A thoroughly watery pasta dish
The day is coming to a close
The pink hour!
It has been 3 years and 154 days since we began our Migration
