26 December 2025 Paphos: Boxing Day Along the Walkway

Boxing day is a British Holiday.  Traditionally people boxed up thier leftover food and toys and gave them to their servants and to the poor.  This morning my love note to Leslie was "Two boxes boxing in a box on Boxing Day."  Back when I was teaching, I left these funny little cartoons and notes for Leslie nearly every morning.  I do it less frequently now that we are travelers, but I like to keep this tradition alive.  The sun was shining and we decided to walk the last stretch of the coastal walk. We made it to Sandy Beach where the western end of the trail ended.  Next we will have to head eastward  to see how far the walkway goes in that direction.

The walk began at St. Geouge's Beach

The rocks here are very rugged

A serious fisherman

A tall piece of art

A baot ramp

With a sandpiper

Lots of room for beach goers

A big bronze

No drinking at this bar

The flowers are enjoying the sun too

Several rock breakwaters

The green green grass of the umbrells farm

The people in the sign are quite stylish

But there is no toilet in the tiolet facility!

The path had many different off shoots in this section

A ship shaped lookout

Land of the big items, a chair and a heart

A garden path

Lantana

Lurking in the shadows

Next to the big chair, a tiny church

I had to open the door to make sure it was not a rest room

The biggest of chairs

Another umbrella farm

This rock got my interest, the waves would hit it from both sides

I did not want to get too close to the edge!

Taking the side route along the egde

Bird on a spike

This tall tall flag pole is flying the unifying flag of Cyprus.  It was first used in 1950 and it represents a Cyprus that is unified with Greece.  This unification is now supported by only a small fraction of the Cyrpiot population

Two flowers blooming on the windy coaqstline

It is the end of the path!

This is what we would call an unimproved track

More lantana

This was the coastal off shoot shown earlier

Silhouette

At first I thought this was a rounded cactus but it is a hedgehog.  Unfortunately it is either hibernating out in the open or playing dead in a very convincing way

Waterpark, not currently open

Kestrel, currently hunting

Back to the large piece of art.  The top appears to be random pieces of wood but it is actually steel

Next to the pillar is  the bronze

This is General Grivas-Dhigenis military leader of the EOKA 1955-1959

A little shrine in front to the resort

Not a huge arch, just big enough for me to fit inside

A cool pool

Another Greek orthodox church

Reflected in the windows

The top of the resort had a Gothic flair

It has been 3 years and 204 days since we began our Migration
