15 November 2022 Brisbane: The View From Madeline's Couch

"The View From Madeline's Couch" is the name of the band we saw today at the Lord Mayor's free Concert at City Hall.   They play Bossa Nova music and it was so smooth.  In between songs the lead singer told Brazil stories and we both remembered the time we had in Rio de Janeiro.  The music lasted only one hour but we could have listened for many more than that.  Since we were in the area, we stopped by the Doctors office to confirm my appointment,  They were able to move up my appointment by two days so I will be getting in tomorrow.  None too soon as my sinus infection is lingering.  We walked through ANZAC square where a memorial to the Queenslanders killed in the Boer War was located.  This conflict was the first one in which colonial Queenslanders fought internationally.  There were still wreaths at the memorial from November 11th, Veteran's day.  It had a nice park area to go with the memorial.   In this park were two baobab trees.  Lunch time was passing us by so we stopped into Harajuku Gyoza for dumplings.  These dumplings were a bit costly but they were very good.  The chicken had a strong ginger flavor which went well with the accompanying sauce.  In fact all the dumplings came in a bowl of sauce specifically tailored to the dumpling's ingredients.  The shitake dumplings had a sauce that ended sweet and the prawn dumpling's sauce ended salty.  Yum indeed.  We headed back and worked on New Zealand.  We also called Emirates Airlines and they gave us the free layover in Dubai which we did not qualify for when we booked.  I took a nap and Leslie soldiered on printing out all the things we need for the next leg.  Dinner at home of leftovers.  We love having a kitchen to cook in.

We got here early, no surprise.

Good thing we did because ti filled up completely

The pretzel shapes on this Brisbane City flag are actually Stafford knots and the caduceus symbol (snakes entwined on a staff) represented peace and commerce.
