We woke up on Saturday morning to see rain on our windows. A perfect day to get wash done, catch up on banking and read a bit. After that the sky cleared up and we went down to the pool. I swam a six laps and could tell that it had been a long time since I was in a pool. We heard a ruckus out on the street and looked down from the pool deck to see young protesters chanting for climate action. The slogan we liked the most was "the seas are rising, no more compromising". Then we heard an even louder commotion. This commotion went on and on for over an hour. It turned out that there was a rally in the Botanical gardens for the Rugby World Cup. Tonga and Samoa are playing in the semifinal round. Based on the turnout there must be thousands of Pacific Islanders here in Brisbane. They were flying flags, wearing flags and hooting and hollering away. We did more work around the house and then went out for dinner. You guessed it, Sushi! On the way back we explored more places to shop and eat. We found a funky café that looks out over the fancy part of the pedestrian mall. They have a buy one get one free steak dinner on Monday. Monday dinner plans, check! On Sunday we got up early and went to the market in the Botanical Gardens., It was a smallish market with food, crafts and one vegetable stand. We did our part buying veggies. On the way out we found an author selling her books at the last booth. it is a murder mystery set just outside of Brisbane so we bought one. Later we decided to head back to the Botanical Gardens for our happy hour. That was a fun time and we plan on repeating this performance.
