12 February 2024 George Town: The Waterside Park is Open

Yippie!  We walked along the Eastern stretch of the Island and newly a week  ago.  They were busy building a large park and recreational area on newly reclaimed land but it was all closed off.  It seemed a shame that it was closed as all the facilities appeared to be in place and ready to go.  They appeared ready because they were ready!  Now it is open and will is already our new favorite evening walk.  Lots of families are there with the little babies, toddlers and their fur-babies too.  There is a playground, a skate park, a walkway along the water and many paths up higher

We are not alone in this new park

Phase two of the park off in the distance

Building water breaks

A possible candidate for an extended stay

Here is where we want to stay for three months when we return

Throwing out the net for baitfish

Hiding behind a rock

This sandpiper was wagging its tail furiously

The little egrets around here are pretty big

Fun in the mudflats

Black legs but yellow feet

More were flying in

Always changing colors

Just a hint of a moon

The Marriott is looking fine

We wondered how it would be to live inside these places, would thew colors drive you batty?

Nice refelctions

Skaters were still learning the new park

they were very polite about taking turns

Little ones watching

The lunar new year must start on the new moon, as it is just starting to show again

Every five minutes someone would blast off another firework

The action shots work great on fireworks

Light shows on the buildings

Light shows in the air

It has been 1 year and 252 days since we began our Migration
