11 December 2024 Brisbane: The Elusive Scaly Breasted Lorikeet

We had been searching for the Scaly Breasted Lorikeet (a new lifebird) the entire previous day to no avail. When I walked out to the river to see if my backup travel wifi could get a signal and there was the bird!  So funny how these things work out sometimes.  The wifi never did work.  We took a walk around the neighborhood and then spent the majority of the day tuning up the next six months of traveling.

Lorikeet time

Flowers are food

This bird ate nonstop

Starting to blend in

Can you find the bird?  He is well camouflaged

Blue Faced Honeyeater

Funky houses

Unique mailboxes too

A cut out for the dog to see who is at the gate

Some of the nearby houses are quite nice

Some are not so nice

We now know in what direction we are traveling

Roses in the New Farm Park

A giant bloom from a bromeliad

This memorial depicts the terrain of the Sandakan region of Malaysia.  It was the site of multiple forced marches that the Japanese inflicted on Australian troops in WW2

We purchased a new gin

The gin was blue, too blue if you ask me as there was a substantial amount of the blue coloring left in the bottom of the bottle

Re-mixed it and it may actually be blue glitter.

It has been 2 years and 189 days since we began our Migration
