19 September 2026 A Coruna: The Lighthouse of Hercules

We had some fun trying to pick up the car.  While Leslie was getting her hair cut I checked in online for the car.  The salon was next door and when she was done, we walked to the rental car location.  It was like a scavenger hunt, take a left from the rental office, pass the bus stop, go down the stairs and take a right, find the key box, show the QR code, put in the pin number and behold here are your keys!  The car is good and we promptly drove to the Tower of Hercules.  It is the oldest Roman lighthouse still in operation.  We brought a picnic lunch and ate on a bench looking out over the tower and the water.  It was a long ramp up to the tower and we took it slow.  My feet have been a little sore so I tried hard to walk only on the flat stones.  We passed a little kiosk that seemed out of place but paid little notice to it.  The ramp overlooked the rocky coast and we would stop periodically to "admire" the landscape while cooling down.  As we reached the tower we found out that they do not sell tickets at the tower.  Tickets can only be obtained online or at the kiosk on mile away.  We chose not to climb up to the top and instead walked along the coastal path to the east.  There was a sculpture garden off in the distance but we decided to put that off for another time.

We rented a car and were able to pick it up remotely.  Scan the QR code, type in the password and get the keys.

Now comes the hard part, getting out of the parking spot
