9 September 2026 Santiago de Compostela: Lunch and Some Wandering

The train ride took an hour and by the time it was over we were ready for lunch.   First we wandered in amongst the pilgrims in the square.  There were small groups of two and three and larger groups of up to 20.  One group had dogs of all shapes and sizes.  There were young adults and elderly folks and everything in between. Some were crying, some were elated, doing the "Rocky" arm up victory pose and many of them were flat on their backs.  We walked along a narrow and busy street popping into shops and evaluating restaurants.  We settled on Meson a Charca and were very happy with our selection.  We continued along the same road and reached  a large park, Parc de Alameda.  Here we saw several statues, from the classic to the funky to the funny.  We kept on moving and passed the market  but contrary to the advertised opening times, it was mostly closed.
