The drive to Santander was only going to be 2 hours and that would put us there long before we could check in. Leslie spied this little town, Ribadesella, and we decided to give it a look. At first we had a hard time finding parking but just when there was no more road to drive on we found a spot. I was our lunch time so we found a great looking seafood place. They had four or five bid tanks filled with three kinds of crabs, two kinds of lobsters and several types of shellfish. We knew that it had to be a good place or else why would they have so many live tanks? There was one other table with people sitting and they were just drinking. It might have been 1:00 or so, very early for a Spanish lunch, but before we knew it there were several tables getting food and a whole crew of older gents at the bar drinking. There was a bit of a language barrier and when I translated we want to split a lobster, it came out as "give us the biggest most expensive beast in the tank." The waiter pulled out a 160 Euro spiny lobster and we waved it off. He brought over a different waiter who spoke English after we explained, he pulled out a nice two pound Norwegian lobster for only 90 euro. We also ordered a creamy seafood bisque and out lunch was set. It was a leisurely 1 1/2 hour lunch and we enjoyed every minute of it. We walked along the river side watching the tide poll in and once we reached the Atlantic we turned around and rode the tailwind back to the car
