21 September 2026 Gijon: Continuing on to Gijon

We stopped for lunch when the road took us closer to the water.  It was at a town called Anguileiro and we sat on a bench while watching all the goings on of the beach goers.  Several dogs passed us on the path and there was one down playing in the water.  Surfers, sun bathers, swimmers, stand up paddle boarders, pilgrims, and walkers.  We ate our lunch and stayed on the smaller roads until we reached Navia.  Here the looming mountains forced our hand and we switched to the highway for the last 100 km.  We were warned of parking woes in the old town but we found a spot very close to our place.  We had to lug all the stuff two blocks to get to the front door and then got back in the car to do some shopping.  Carfour had a huge store with electronics, clothes and food too.  We stocked up for the next few days and then did the same unload trick.  Then we put the car into a public storage site and came back for dinner.

We pondered how far the tide would fill this area

Big buildings on both sides

These seemed like single family homes

You surf the waves that nature gives you

This dog chased the stick multiple times

Woof!

The cemeteries here are built like compounds

A mighty fine mausoleum

It is obvious we are in a rural area when we have to share the road with tractors

We made it to Gijon

The harbor is just a few steps away

Another peninsula town
