21 September 2026 Gijon: Foz to Ribadeo the Last Town in Galicia

We decided to take the road less traveled from A Coruna to Gijon.  We snaked up some mountains and down others.  Several gigantic raised roadways gave me the heebies!  Foz was our first stop and it was a tiny town right on the coast but still very hilly.  We popped into the tourist office and saw the displays that they had.  Then we stayed off the highway and drove through the smaller towns along the way.  It coincided with the North Path of the Camino de Santiago.  We saw many pilgrims walking in the sun as well as signs pointing the way for them to follow. We reached Ribadeo and toured the town.  The drive was easy until we plotted the way out of town.  then is was a zig zag back and forth on tiny streets with tight turns.  We eventually found our way to the bridge and over to Asturias.

The water was so clear

This is a wide bay and the RV's have once again found a fantastic spot to park

Off we go to the inlet

Heading out

Narrow streets on our way out

Nicely painted

Pride of place

Back on the road we pass a grand house

Big places along the path

Wowzers

Just look for the pink building

In Ribadeo it seems like a big town

then the streets get smaller

Right up until it was a one way street with barely enough room for the car and a hairpin turn to boot

All roads converge to this single bridge
