Hollyrood Palace

The Queen's favorite summer palace is here in Edinburgh.  It is called Hollyrood  because it is next to the Hollyrood Abbey.  The Abby is called Hollyrood because a pious man was wandering the wilds of Scotland when he encountered a raging stag.  In between the horns was a crucifix that he promptly snatched.  The stag did not kill him, so he built an Abbey.  the palace was the site of much intrigue surrounding Mary Queen of Scotts her murdered personal secretary and second husband, marauding English troops and the like.
