As we left the Raintree Lodge, it was still dark. We had hoped to leave a bit earlier but breakfast did not come out on time and we were a good half hour late getting out of the gate. The drive was an hour and a half and we drove out of town and entered a deep ravine. Towering cliffs were off to our left and a river flowed along the side of the road between us and the cliffs. There were large pipes, part of a hydroelectric project, that snaked all along the river. We drove multiple switchbacks as we climbed out of the ravine and the sun came out as we emerged.
Pre dawn
Still a bit dark
The cliffs off to our left
Deep valleys
Pipes and power lines
The pipes ran for miles
Rock faces
Still a bit dark in the ravine
We are up and out of the ravine
Great view back down the ravine
Way down there is a waterfall
Heading to the park entrance
Passing large volcanic rocks
We have arrived
Its a bird!
