8 July 2025 Maroochydore: A Walkabout to the North

After our Doctor visit and corresponding visit to the pharmacy on the 7th we rewarded ourselves with a nice walk to Cotton park on the 8th.  We passed the caravan park and headed up to Cotton park and then a bit past there to Ocean Avenue.  There was a huge aquatic center with pools and lane swimming.  We also passed numerous picnics as well as folks laying out on the beach.  This is the Maroochy River delta area and there are sandy banks and large sand bars out in the river.  Lots of folks were enjoying the river in kayaks and motorboats.  We followed one of the river branches until we could see the mall and then we crossed over to walk back along Ocean Avenue.  This is the entertainment hub of town with many bars and restaurants advertising live music.

We have seen only one other Australian doctor in our visits, Dr. Ross Taylor in Brisbane.
So on the 7th we visited the Bundilla clinic for yet another smooth and easy medical system interaction

A very informative plaque in Cotton Park.  The original inhabitants were people from the Gubbi Gubbi / Kabi Kabi  language group.  Their name for the Maroochy river was Mooroo-kutchi which means red beak.  Red beak was the name of the black swans that live in the river.

Volcanic plugs are tallest geographic landmarks.  They include Mt. Eerwah, Mt. Ninderry, Mt. Cooroy and Mt. Coolum

Cotton Park is very nice
