Blue Lagoon with fancy upgrade

There is a new resort and spa at the Blue Lagoon called The Retreat.  We got the upgrade from the regular Blue Lagoon package and they sent us over to the Retreat. We are so pleased that we made that choice. The guide told us that we could not take pictures so we don't have any pictures of us in the water. Not that that's a bad thing, but I snuck a few in after most people left. We had a 4 hour window from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and had the place almost to ourselves. It had all the grade Blue Lagoon water and silica mud combined with the amenities of a fabulous Spa. We had her own personal changing room with showers, a ritual room for exfoliating with lava, skin enriching with silica mud and moisturizing with algae masks. We also visited the fireplace room and hung in the woven nests overlooking the water. Top notch indeed.

The entrance to the spa is so cool. There are red lights behind this metal lattice structure and it looks like a lava

Brandon was our guide to the whole Spa experience thank you Sir

Since no one was in the water at the time I felt I was ok sneaking this picture

This is the top level of 6 descending pools

Periodically fresh batches of lava warmed water would enter the pool. When that happened the steam rose up in billows

A cool wooden walkway across the water where we took refuge from the rain drops

More pools of water

The water of flows through a canyon of lava rock

My tasty beef dish dinner

Leslie's sushi dinner was on a metallic plate in the shape of Iceland

The fireplace room was so relaxing luckily we regrouped before we spent the night there

We finished up in the nests.  It is 10:30 p.m. at this point notice how much light there is
