27 December 2022 Sydney: An Easy Trip Down the Coast

We got up around 8AM and did out last minute laundry and vacuuming.  We were in an Uber and at the airport by 10AM.  Virgin Australia has a lounge and it was nice.  The only issue was we were too late for the bacon.  There was still a chafing dish with "poached" eggs but the bacon was gone.  I say poached in quotes because they did not look like any poached egg I have ever seen before.  It was a hard pass on those eggs.  We had made salads for our lunch and we ate them while we had a table to contain the inevitable spill of the balsamic vinaigrette dressing.  We were in Row 2 of the plane and got situated with some bubbly for a quick flight.  We had expected a longer flight but we were not used to the odd way they observe daylight savings time in Australia.  The territories to the north are an hour behind the territories to the south.  Nothing should surprise us after the half hour time shift from Perth to Darwin, but this one snuck up on us.  We landed and while we were waiting for our bags, I dialed up an Uber.  It was going to cost 130 AUD to get into town from the airport.  That is a steep ride so we looked into the train.  The host of the AirBnB had given us directions from the train so Leslie took a stroll to see where we could catch the train.  It seemed easy enough so we did it.  We had to buy transit cards but we would have bought then anyway.  It was a 400 meter walk to the apartment which was tricky with all the luggage but we saved 100 AUD.  We got the key from a lock box on a bike stand right outside the apartment and we were inside lickety split.  The apartment was nice and we decided to try to get a quick bite at the restaurant across the street.  Chin Chin is in a historic building that had been vacant for 30 years but is now a hip and happening place.  We got sashimi and chicken wings, just enough to top us off.  Then it was off to the IGA for supplies for the next few days.  We got back stored the food, cooked a chicken and settled in to our new place.
