28 December 2022 Sydney: A Walk Through the Botanical Gardens and To the Opera House

We had a good morning and got out to a beautiful day.  We were able to walk through parks all the way to Sydney  harbor and the famous Opera House.  The first park was Hyde Park with a beautiful ANZAC memorial in the center and St Mary's Cathedral to the side.  The trees in the park were huge and the deep shade beneath them was luxurious.   We continued to walk along the Domain Park and past the Art Gallery. It was too nice a day for going inside a museum.  This took us right to the gates  of the Botanical Gardens.  We were on a mission to get to the fast ferry to Manly so we strolled through the gardens but did not see everything as they span 74 acres of land.  We did pass by the palm grove, a fancy rainbow bee and beds upon beds of flowers.  The gardens end at the harbor and as we reached this point we could see the Opera House in the distance.  The tide was still high and occasionally water would surge up and on the walkway.  As we got closer we could see that folks were climbing the Harbor Bridge.  It was quite windy and it must have  been even windier up on top of the bridge.  No thank you on that climb.

The ANZAC a very elaborate and quite beautiful

Getting closer

If you look close you can see the people climbing.  They will be 440 feet above the water at the top

Inching their way up.  It takes 1400 steps to do this excursion

It was super windy to boot!

The harbor was a brilliant blue color

We are the furthest point from our apartment.  We have to backtrack a bit to get to the ferry terminal
