Nam Son Pagoda was almost a half hour away but the Grab ride was still only $8. We drove along through parts of Da Nang that we had not been to before. Like most cities in the world, there is a very evident disparity with the haves and the have nots. Lavish mansions are juxtaposed with empty lots strewn with trash and rubble. Once we got to the Pagoda we were greeted with the throngs of folks dressed in their traditional dresses and suits. They were lined up at the most scenic spots taking thousands of pictures. It took us extra time to navigate the grounds as we stopped so many times to let the pictures be taken before we walked past. It was a very extensively decorated area with many statues, a Koi pond and large trees. The planes would roar overhead every few minutes breaking up the peaceful nature of the space.
