The driver, Karo, who took me to Son Tra mountain told me about his Uncle Bay, who guides folks looking for the Vietnamese wild animals. He showed me pictured of birds that his uncle had taken and told me about Bach Ma Mountain. I asked if Uncle Bay was available and after much back and forth we settled on the 18th to head out to Bach Ma. The driver picked me up at 5:20 and we headed out in the dark. We took the tunnel so that we did not have to climb the multiple switchbacks to the mountain pass that we had already seen. Once we got out of the tunnel we headed to the Đầm Cầu Hai lagoon where we say the system used to farm oysters. I saw a few birds on the way but only one new one. We continued along the lagoon until Bach Ma loomed in the distance.
It is just starting to get light and we are at the outskirts of Da Nang
