Southampton from a different angle. We wanted to take the 11:18 train to Southampton but it was canceled. The next train was not till 12:18. We had a dilemma, head back to the house and drop off some items or walk around the station a bit instead. There was a nature preserve "the Bunny" just a short walk away so we took off in that direction. We did not get far. The sidewalk stopped and we were hesitant to walk on the road. The roads here are very small and this one in particular had lots of vegetation growing along the sides making each bend a blind curve. So we turned around and started walking around on the other side of the station. We found a spot by the Badgers that had shade and a breeze and we watched some birds. We made it back to the station with a bit of time still to wait for the, now late, train to Southampton. We wanted to then take the bus to the ferry terminal so we needed to buy tickets. This was not as straight forward as one would think. Leslie had to download the app, registered on the system, before she could buy two tickets. Simple, but no. For me to use that ticket, I had to download the app on my phone, register into the system, download my ticket and then activate the ticket. After all that the app drained the batteries on both of our phones! The main goal for this trip was to get tickets for the ferry to the Isle of Wight for our Friday excursion. Since the website said that the tickets were not available online we went to the ticket office. When we arrived the ticked booth was closed. We found a kiosk that seemed to be working and printed on the kiosk was the information for the app. Since the app only works "online" the not available part left us scratching our heads. Confusing yes, but either way we got our tickets. We ate a fine lunch at a Turkish Restaurant the Ottoman Kitchen. Then we walked back towards the city center seeing many cool buildings and ruins along the way. We did a bit of food shopping. We stocked up on things not available in Netley visiting three different food stores to get it all. Then we headed back to the house and made a tiny dinner since we were still a bit full from lunch.
