George IV made this mini palace as a banquet hall and a place to entertain outside of London. He started in the late 1700's but continuously added to it until toe 1820 time frame. As one of the informative placards said, "No other British monarch before or after, has dared to display such extravagance." That summed it up succinctly. It is deceptively large, the single story makes it seem smaller but once you are inside it goes on and on. There were tow wings that had a second story for bedrooms and tea salons
Our front door
Even the iron in the streets is made with design in mind
One block off of the Beach and Brighton starts to look like a village
Top Dogs
Starting a panorama from left to right
It was so large, I could not get all the building in one shot
When this was built, it was the first English building to use Indian architectural elements
Getting more detail on the domes
An entry gate
Peeking out from the gardens
So many spires
Detail details details
Tea roses
8 major spires and 10 minor
The number of workers needed boggles the mind
The nodules in the foreground remind me of Hersey's kisses
Lush gardens all around
Not many folks here today
Minarets
Reds and yellows
Over 200 original construction drawings were found in the archives
Looking up
Very detailed windows
The columns appear to be growing out of these leaves
There are windows in the main dome
My best shot of the entire building
Museum next door
Looking back over yet another dazzling floral element
The gardens were worthy on their own
