We had dinner at Papillon a restaurant located in a former Church. Papillion is a reimagined old church. New balconies and skylights were added to the interior space. We were delighted to discover four more new gins to try. We popped upstairs sat down with the Slingsbys and some appetizers. A warm bread with an array of flavored butters plus a pork belly tempura. Those delightful tidbits set the table for our crab cake and chicken Milanese dinner selections. We arrived early and lingered as the restaurant started to fill up. There were folks coming in from the matinee across the street and there were pub visitors filling up on beer all at the same time. Pub etiquette is to cue up at the bar and get your order in, pay, walk away with your beer and they will find you with the food. Upstairs we were given restaurant service tableside as we watched the pub line downstairs get longer and longer until it spilled outside the front door. The Queen and I walked across the street to the Mayflower Theater to see the King and I. We enjoyed the show although a few times we had to laugh at some of the performance. The people we watched in the theater were entertainment enough before the show even started. So many floral patterns on the dresses. It was like being in a botanical garden.
