2 June 2023 Netley: A Walking Tour of Netley

Our first full day in our secluded cabin by the park.  We had big plans, walk to the Cottage Pub for lunch, walk to the Pickwell farm shop and then get a taxi to the Marks and Spencer to shop.  We got to the Cottage Pub only to find that they have no cook so lunch would be frozen pizzas, hard pass on that.  The barmaid said we could go to the Prince Consort Pub but we thought we would just continue on to Pickwell.  10 minutes later we are faced with walking on the side of the road for an additional 10 minutes.  With no sidewalk or path, we pass on that.  Hunger is now clouding our judgement.  I try Uber for the short ride to  Pickwell Farm shop but it never connects us with any divers.  So we decide to walk to the Prince Consort pub.  20 minutes later we arrive a bit hot and more than a bit hungry only to find that 2:38 is too late for the 2:30 kitchen closing time.  Grrrr.  The Coop shop is just around the corner so we get a couple of bags of food.  We head back home, 9000 steps the wiser and have our lunch.  We decide that the store  will be another day and we just settle in.  Later we head back out for a chance to see the moon.  It was nearly full and we bundled up to go find it.  Along the water se saw sunbathers, sailboats, old buildings, families out on an excursion, ferry boats, kayakers.  We saw multiple cute dogs.  Two in particular stand out, the first was very excited to be by the water.  He would jump off of the seawall and back up like it was not a five foot tall wall.  The other one was Monty a cute terrier that we got to interact with.
