2 November 2023 Vouliagmeni: Traveling Takes its Toll

We started this last stint of travel in Zadar on the 30th after a long night with little sleep.  The wind emergency that closed some of the highways and grounded the cruise boats caused our windows to whistle and the shutters to rattle all night.  Hence the lack of sleep.  Our three hour drive to Zagreb on the 31st was half in the rain.  That rain was so intense that our speed demon driver actually had to slow down slightly.  Then the hail hit and the inside of the van sounded like a tin drum.  It cleared up by the time we got to Zagreb.  Unfortunately I discovered that the bed in Zadar has wooden panels that reach all the way to the floor.  The way I discovered it was with my big toe and it got jammed, swollen and painful.  Given that and with the iffy weather in Zagreb, we only took a short walk, ordered take-away Chinese and then retired to the hotel room.  The beds were great and we slept in so long that we almost missed the 10:00 end time to the breakfast on the 1st.  The toe is not great but not worse so I was only limping a bit when we got to the airport.  I had my shoe off during the flight as feet tend to swell at altitude.  We landed and were soon at out new AirBnB.  It will be a great 28 days at this fancy place.  We slept hard and in the morning of the 2nd we enjoyed our tea in this delightful place.  We then got in a taxi and headed into Athens to get the big bags that we stored there before the cruise.  Then is was lunch, the store, wash, unpack and make dinner.  Phewww
