We had some difficulty getting to the train station as there was yet again some sort of strike going on. A large crowd chanting and blocking the street was in front of the train station. In addition there were very long lines at the ticket kiosk as the online purchasing app was flaky. Leslie once again rose to the occasion and entered our data, re-entered tour data and then did it again until she was finally able to get the tickets. This trip was only 20 some minutes and we were second class so there was a scrum for seats. We were lucky to get seats as some folks had to stand. Once in Monaco, our 42nd country in 41 months, we took a series of elevators and escalators down to sea level. Here we walked along the port but there was a massive undertaking going on. Apparently some very large event was recently over and the tents, pavilions and barricades were all scattered about and in some level of disassembly. It was a mess but we were determined to stay down low for al along as we could. That was a smart decision as the walk took us to the waters edge where the waves were crashing. Eventually we were able to repeat the escalator, elevator, escalator elevator sequence and arrive at the top of the hill in old town. We megandered the streets and visited the cathedral.
Some sort of civil disobedience
Chanting and blocking of the streets
Longlines for tickets as the online ticketing was spotty
We made it to the track
Hugging the mountains
This place has it made
Perched up on top of the cliff
We took an elevator down to the hall of mirrors
In case you are lost
Down at the port there was a deconstruction of a major event
Behind the race cars was a gigantic pavilion that they were taking down
Lap swimming
The champagne cart was not offring any bubbly today
Some flowers
Looking up to the palace and the bluffs up higher
Looking back across the bay
Lots of debris and trash left over from the deconstruction
This item was interesting. Is it some sort of diving bell or a pressurized capsule for decompression stops?
Part of the walls
Up we go
Putting the mega in the mega yacht category
This is one half of the country of Monaco

We are in and impressed
Suddenly we hear a very low tome blasting out
At first it seemed like construction noise
But other tones came into play and it was the organ!
The loud tones were probable an attempt to clear out the pipes
The knaves are decorated with fewer items but those items were of highest quality
Even the gates were special
Many arches supporting the center dome
A bright golden dome
Saints lining the base
It looks like they painted all the saints at sea
A list of the monarchs
Looking out tot he entrance
Very tall with a few nice stained glass windows
Way way up there
they had a display of the weeks treasure that is put out on display for everyone to enjoy
Mid restoration, these look look a bit like post-its
The windows are decidely small
I confess that we liked this cathedral!
It has been 3 years and 118 days since we began our Migration
