We took and early, 8 AM ride over to the commercial port. Once we were there we stood in line for a half an hour before we could board. Once we were boarding I had to sprint to get a table by the window. We had a two hour ride and did we wanted to have the convenience of a table with the necessity of a window. The woman who wad trying to grab the table had cut into the line just before we got in and I was not going to stand for that. It was smooth sailing and the sea was calm. We stopped a few times, once on an island off of Cannes, once in Cannes and once in San Tropez. There was a parade of sailboats emerging from the Cannes harbor all set to race in the France Autumn Cup Race. It was a great thing to be able to see.
Castle Hill
A very crowded harbor
Trail runners passing us
The first of these runner that we have seen running
No running here
A whole lot for so early
Wetsuits?
Leaving the Nice harbor
We have cleared the breakwater
A huge rock promontory

No shortage of mega yachts
Massive villas too
Towing a sailboat in the morning
Lighthouses
Fort Royal
The Isle of Lerin
Oh the color of the sea!
Have kayak, will venture out
Approaching Cannes
On the ferry they broadcast the ship's radar. Cannes is the black line on the top and the area of Thuoule sur Mer and Miramar were where the rocly red coast was
A very big sail boat
As we entered Cannes harbor we saw a plethora of sailing boats
From the huge ones
To little ones
A parade of sailing teams are heading out
Crews all color coordinated
With big masts
Ans even bigger masts
The green team
Perhaps from Venice
The clock is reading 10:15 or so
These guys decided to sail out of the harbor
Stylish couple who go on the boat in Cannes
Seven boats heading out just in this shot
Vive la France
Canned in the background
So many tents set up
Not a chicken tender, a tender from the cruise ship
Another tender contributing to the assault of cruisers on Cannes
We wondered why this hill was settled and just this hill
Maybe a dam, but one with a plug in the bottom that can drain the water for the winter
The ferry's narration claimed that this rock is the oldest resident of the coast, having been here foe 200 million years
A delightful rock outcrop
A train going over the viaduct
Another densely packed hill
Lighthouse
Great red rock formations along the coast and another monolith further inland
San Tropez Harbor
A Sea Cloud Cruises ship
The Sea Cloud Spirit
Very sleek sailboats
Three masts
