27 September 2025 Nice: Saint Tropez and Sailboats

We ate a late breakfast or early lunch on the ferry.  We landed in Saint Tropez around 10:30 began megandering.  There was big art, small shops a unique museum and various statues.  The museum was about a 1964 film that was set here, Le Gendarme of Saint Tropez.  Although it is much beloved by the French we passed it by so we could enjoy the sunny day.  Down by the harbor the number of shops and cafes really greatly increased.  We picked up some pastries to tide us over and continued exploring.  A large tent was set up at the end of the harbor where the best view of the sail boats could be monetized with tables, a bar and merch sales.  We found a big table with a breeze and sat and enjoyed the to and fro of the various watercraft.   Leslie had discovered a Lobster Roll place where we all had out afternoon snack.  We had to be back at the ferry stop at 4:30 so we did a slow motion shuffle back to the ferry dock.  There were folks in line already and we joined them.  We got our preferred seating up top and behind the captains cabin.

We had a debate as to the function of these items.  Are they little watercraft that people can use to putter around the harbor?

Or are they the markers used in a sail boat race?

These look like the standard sail boat race markers
