So many delightful eye-fills today! We drove the car into Barcelona proper and near the train station there was a Hertz. We eventually got to the -5 floor to our Hertz rental representative and turned the car back t him. We immediately went to the train station and got our family pass. Our line is the R1 so we took The R1 to the Placa de Catalanya as a practice run. We disembarked and then zigged and zagged and made our way to the Palau de le Musica Catalana, another building designed by Gaudi. Sushi lunch was the next stop and then we wandered through the town. There is such a rich heritage of architecture and preservation here that anywhere you walk, there is something fine to look at.
A grand entrance, perhaps I need a top hat
Statue and the ANY 1919 building
Simple but grand nonetheless
Very beautiful balcony
Lots of light will filter into these flats
Nice digs for a H&M
Put a temple on top
When you find someone's note pad, put it in a public place and maybe they will see it
Getting into the big building zone
Reminds me of New Orleans with the iron balconies
A fun round turret front
What is down this alley?
Look it is a sushi place
Our own private dining area
Spicy Salmon and salmon roe with a quail egg on top
Shrimp gyoza
Graffiti!
and lots of it!
The city is fighting back by tagging the existing graffiti with this taunt. I an not sure that this is going to shame the taggers into stopping
Oh my, what is this?
The three chimneys were built in 1896, 1908 and 1912 to supply electricity to the city
236 feet tall and 13 feet in diameter
They have been integrated into offices for the electric utility, there ia a park and old machinery has been repurposed into sculptures
They tagged our train!
This is us, not a walk and 114 steps up to our apartment
