23 April 2023: Barcelona: A Walk to Montgat Station and Back

We ventured off the track today.  From the apartment we walked down to the water and then headed south  into Montgat.  We took the high road and then went under the tracks and came back the beach way.  We overshot a bit and had to backtrack to find a reasonable underpass.  There were several unreasonable underpasses but we did not feel like a full on scramble down a jumbled pile of rocks was a smart Sunday activity.  The first thing we saw was a huge cat, bigger than any house cat I have ever seen. walk past with a full grown rabbit in its jaws.  It sauntered off for some lunch but I got a few good pictures before it was gone.  There are actual "wild cat" species still alive in Spain but the coloration is different from this beast, but perhaps it is still some kind of beast other than a house cat.  The regattas from yesterday were still going on today and at one point I saw over 40 sailboats from our balcony.  When we got to Montgat we had to ask for help in finding the underpass that would take us to the beach.  We then had a nice stroll past a mini carnival, families and dog owners on the sand as well as joggers and bike riders on the path.  A stiff wind was coming up from the south so hats were needed in places.  Other times the wind died and we had to take off our coats because we were hot.  We saw some cool birds, a black redstart and a European goldfinch.  Plus I saw some sort of hawk back at the apartment.  We cooked up a whole chicken for dinner and it was wonderful!

Hungry?

I think this meal will be quite sufficient

I count 20 sailboats in this group but there were three main groups out there

Bumper cars and games that no one can win, no florescent snakes will be given out today!
