Ahhhh, we have really been able to relax in our place here. On an excursion we walked down flight after flight of stairs. I was counting various staircases and got 51 steps, 41 steps, 31 steps and 21 steps which is 144 steps. That is just for the ones I counted, there were easily another 50 or so steps. The walkway along the water varied between concrete and wood and was pretty easy walking. We walked about 3 miles down hill to the water and then north to the port of Mansau. The inlet was packed with the masts of many many sailboats. This is where all of the sailboats have emerged from over the last two Sundays. We saw dogs, fishermen, sunbathers, bikes, families and walkers on our trip. Several trains passed us going both ways. We decided to just jump in a taxi at the end and we were home in a jiffy.
Remnants of older construction are everywhere
A brisk breeze is blowing
The bells here are just a single bell in this old clocktower
Underpasses get you over to the beach
There are a series of fortifications all along the coast that are fairly new
Not much sand. The rock to sand ratio is not in favor of the sunbather
Looking south to Barcelona
Ample sculptural opportunities
A very large, seemingly abandoned complex
Broken windows and graffiti
So much promise declining into ruin
The structure looks to be in good shape
Northern Wheatear! A new Lifebird
What fishes will these lines bring in?
Sorry for the wires but this is the Bell Resguard Building
Lots of tile and stained glass
A classic painted tile roof
Nice ornamentation all around
And a walkway!
Many of the buildings have sundials right on the exterior wall
This is a vary busy marina
A very high concentration of sailboats
Eateries and bars in this open area. Of course it is siesta time so nothing was open!
Older sailboats have such a romantic feel
