We continued on to Kyoto and had some time to spare so we went to the Nishiki Market. This market is often referred to as Kyoto's kitchen. It runs for a quarter of a mile and has 130 vendors selling all kinds of treats. It was packed with people so we kept up a good pace. We bought some eggs, chicken, gin, and some tonic water. While there we ate some giant crab sticks, one tempura fried and one broiled. Folks are not supposed to eat while walking and we heard announcements about that. We actually saw a vendor pull someone to the side and tell them to stop walking and finish eating. I wonder where that rule came from? Are they worried about having another kind of Reese's Peanut Butter Cup incident, only this tiem with shellfish and doughnuts? Then we headed over to the AirBnB, a 2 bed, one bath, full kitchen house. It is located down a very narrow alley. We were forewarned not to attempt to drive to the place but our driver boldly went where he should not have gone. It got progressively narrower and narrower. We told him that we were close enough a couple of times but maybe he did not understand or he thought he could make it, but he could not. We heard a crunch at a particularly tight spot and that turned out to be as close as we were going to get to the AirBnB. It turned out to be a lovely place with more space that we expected for Japan. The door frames however, are quite low and are only 5 foot 10 or so. They are so low that I should see the low frame and stop before hitting my head but I still hit it a few times. Luckily I wore my hat all night as a protection device
