On the 22nd we loaded our bags into the taxi in Hiroshima and took off to the high speed trains. We were early, no surprise, so we sat for a bit and watched all the folks going about their business. We were particularly amazed at the folks with giant backpacks. All of that stuff could certainly fit in a roller bag and the backpack could be rolled up and put inside. That way when they actually need the backpack all their stuff, they have it but the rest of the time traveling would be much easier on the back. We traveled to Kyoto at a very high rate of speed. Upon arrival we went off to deal with our big bags which have been stored in the train station for the last two weeks. We had planned to ship these bags to Tokyo but suddenly the folks behind the counter said they can't ship to Tokyo. They told us that we needed to head off to the Kyoto Central Post Office to ship them. That sounded odd since we had shown them the Tokyo address before we left the bags there. Oh well, we opted not to go to the Post Office as we only had a little over an hour to get back on the train. So at the JR Counter we changed our seats to ones that allowed for oversized baggage. It was fast and efficient but we had to sit in separate areas on the train. Leslie got to meet some delightful folks from Doha Qatar! We crammed all the luggage into a taxi and then made the ride to Toshiba City where our AirBnB was located. The check in was all automated and we were quite pleased with the place. It was a 2/2 with washer-dryer, dishwasher and western style beds! We did not arrive till after five so all we could manage was a quick trip to the supermarket. We slept soundly in the morning and got unpacked, started much needed wash, rearranged some of the furniture and went to the store again. We had store bought sushi for happy hour a cooked up a nice lite dinner. A great start to a month in Tokyo
