Our 4:30AM alarm was a shock to our systems. We were down in the lobby by 5:00 only to find our driver, who had confirmed that he would arrive at 4:45, had not yet arrived. We called the number but no answer and then WhatsApp finally got a response of "I'll be there in 10 minutes". It was 5:18 when he finally pulled into the lot. Not the way we wanted to start our day. Check in and immigration went smoothly and we were in the lounge pretty quickly. We ordered a quick bite in the sit down restaurant and then headed down to the gate. Changing money on the way took more time than we thought it should but we got to the gate as boarding had just started. This nine hour flight had some turbulence but just in pockets, not and extended shake. We flew from daylight to darkness and then right over Hong Kong. We were in a holding pattern over Manila due to the drenching rain. We looked it up and a tropical storm strength Typhoon was approaching the Philippines. It is named Kristine, just like my sister!
The blue lights towards the top are fishing boats luring shrimp and squid to the nets
A bridge tunnel from Hong Kong to the mainland
Lots of densely populated islands
We had a pretty bumpy landing and it turns out that Tropical Typhoon Kristine is on its way!
