Our cottage is loaded with books. One of the books was about walks in the Cotswolds. We found a walk that seemed to be one that we would enjoy. It started in Stow on the Wold and led to Lower Slaughter. It was listed as 4 miles and moistly downhill. But first we took our ballots and mailed them at the post office. We voted! There are two strikes against tyranny. We stopped in for some tasty bits to bring for a picnic. The first mile and a half was very pretty and easy to follow the path. Later the path was quite muddy and we may possibly have gone astray towards the end. We brought the book with us so we could refer to it and check on our waypoints. However we got to the point where we were no longer passing things described in the book. At that point we plotted the way to Lower Slaughter on google maps and with a hard right turn we were able to get out of the farm fields and onto a road. Very soon we were in Little Slaughter and enjoying the village. There was a bench in front of St Mary's church where we finished off our picnic lunches and had a little visit from a cheeky kitty.
We bought envelopes
Ballots inside one set and then the voter certification and the envelope into another envelope
Off to Florida they go
I have the book out to make sure we start on the right path
Seems straightforward
Through the cemetery
Past the strangely trimmed bush
Steering clear of the haunted graves
The landscape is opening up already
Stow on the Wold is on the top of a 800 ft hill. That is what wold means
The Monarch's way is a 625 mile footpath that traces the path of Charles 1I retreat after his defeat in Worchester
Nice hairy feet
Vistas abound
Soon we will descend
These little markers keep us oriented
Leading to the equestrian arena
Bleeping sheep
Out to pasture
Free range kids!
Stay on the path
Nice digs
The arena
Ready for some practice jumping
It is getting a bit soggy
We are at the river
All the water is funneled to a sluice way under the left side of the house
Travelers
This dog ran full speed into the river
Still on the trail
A very gnarled tree
A new name for the path
Rook
Even soggier down at river level
Now we may be heading into trouble
But wait, there is the marker for the path
We did not see a bull but it certainly added a kick to our pace
After walking too long without a marker we hit off to a road
And we are at the outskirts of Lower Slaughter
Trying not to look "sus"
The town is nigh
This is something to crow about
1867, so new!
The town is very quaint
Apples for all
St Marys
Nicely kept up homes
Nicely kept up graves
The bench is in sight
No food for you!
Take it easy I did not mean anything by it
Gargoyle
I did not start the tracker while we were still in town. You can see how wet it was with all the streams flowing in this area
