We got up early enough to be able to get up to the top of the Penang Hill before the heat and the crowds. It was a good thing we did because this place became very popular. We went to the Habitat Nature Preserve which cost a bit more so fewer people were there. The above picture is at the end of the worlds longest double-span, stressed ribbon bridge. It connects two ridges with a very deep valley in between. It is more than a canopy walk since it towers above the tops of the trees. Other attractions of the Habitat were a 1.2 km walk way through the rainforest as well as a cafe nestled in the trees. Lastly there is a elevated walkway that is called the Tree Top Walk and it is the highest view point on Penang Hill. It is also the scariest one as the floor that you walk on is a mesh and there is no way not to look down. In addition the walkway is narrow with only room for two abreast so it is not for the faint of heart
Driving to the funicular took us 20 minutes
This is why we get the express pass
The line was 1 hour and we walked right up to the front and got on the next cat
Only a handful of folks in front of us
We got right up front
They were packing up lots of goodies in the front of the funicular
Great views to the right and the left
With a grade of 29 degrees it is the steepest funicular in the world
Amazingly fast
There were stational along the way but we has the express
Two funiculars passing in the day
A fun ride with a tunnel too

Spikey palm trees
The tree top walk int he distance
The cicadas were calling loudly
This one is newly emerged
Lots of mature forest
There were multiple signs telling about the fauna
Some of the butterflies were as big as birds
Our next adventure to tackle
Eight flights of stairs up
Trees all along the stairway
This was scarier than the ribbon bridge
The views stretched out far into the distance
Fog still on the mainland
Family fun
Looking down
The walkway was a mesh so the ground was visible as you were walking
Brave a smile
Mountains and fog off in the distance
George Town scattered about
The walkway was actually quite narrow, only room for two folks side by side
A dome off on top of another peak
An old sanitarium for TB patients is now a fancy place, the Crag Hotel
Back int he rainforest
A spiral plant
Lantanas
The zip line is not operational at the moment
Lichen
It must be pretty nice zipping through here
A creepy crawly exhibit
Tarantulas
A local viper snake
Bif palms and tree ferns
Blooming ginger plants
Nice art
Bright and colorful
Along the trail
For visitors to enjoy
It was great seeing how different plants can take over an area
Weird buds growing out of the side of the trees
More flowers
These smelled delightful
Tree Ferns
Leslie saw one of the colugo gliders but it was camera shy
At the cafe we watched birds and monkeys
The elusive dusky Monkey
Alison and Simon, a couple from the UK who are retired and on a three month Asia trip
Many folks hire golf carts to get around
It beats the heat
Power lines hanging low or in a knot of some sort
Lots of cafe's hotels and other venues at the top
A old time car on display
Heading back to George Town
The flowers keep blooming
Even places to pose for a fee
The ride down hill was quite exciting
Long time no see, A&W
A slight mishap on the ride back. We booked another ride to get all the way home
