We were pool-side before noon! Time for some sun and sea breeze. It has been quite hot in George Town with no breeze to speak of, so this was a great change of pace. We lounged about while the staff brought us cold water, scented cold towels and a pizza. Later we headed back to the room for a restorative lie down. While Leslie tired to nap I went out on a walkabout. My intention was to give her peace and quiet, but the closing door woke her up and then the hotel called the room... twice! The call was to see how our stay had been going, great right up to the waking up part. There were three new birds on my walkabout , a red wattled lapwing, a Oriental pied hornbill and a dollarbird. When I got back we roused ourselves and went to an early dinner at the Italian "Terrace" restaurant. I had a lamb cheek filled ravioli with porcini mushrooms and Leslie had ricotta stuffed shells with a nutty green pesto. A very very tasty dinner. Back in the room, there were 11 chestnut headed bee-eaters with a blue throated bee-eater all in the same tree!
Soaking it in
To infinity and then the beach
Frangipani all around the pool Perimeter
At the Pool!
Stray dog strolling by
Huge empty beaches as far as the eye can see
We will be riding high tomorrow
Delicate lavender colored bloom
Concrete channels for run off
Flying right over my head was the hornbill
Oriental Pied Hornbill
Pink and red bougainvillea and orange poinsettia
Blam!
Red Wattled Lapwing had a very distinct call
Large boulders and an even larger lighthouse
the Chestnut Headed Bee-Eater would swoop down and I could head it snap as it bit onto a bee
Stacked rocks
Not the best picture bu the red beak and the distinct profile makes these Dollarbirds
A most sturdy light house
Common Sandpiper
Doughnut clouds
A lone tree poking above the canopy
What is that boat pulling?
It looks like a romantic dinner for two.
The fishing boats all hace bright colors
Water lily's
At the pool entrance to the hotel
A face in profile?
A sitting area in the center courtyard
The pool is winding down
This boat is used for beach towels
11 Chestnut headed Bee-Eaters and one Blue Chested Bee Eater top left all by himself
So much color
Dinner is in the belly and the sun is saying goodnight
Sitting on the balcony breathing it all in
That's all she wrote
