The SkyCab is the steepest cable car in the world. Or so it says on the placards on top of the peak but at 42 degrees I believe it. We rode up in the 360 degree car witch is as open air as they can get. It was covered in a wire cage so we could not get out or throw any large items out. The cable wert up in two stages and we got off at the first station to look around. There is a large overhanging viewing platform that is currently in construction. It looks particularly scary as it extends very far out from the edge and then has a circular platform to get that 360 degree view. It was a massive construction. We took some pictures and looked around a bit. Then we got back on for the second leg and they put is the VIP gondola car. We had purchased the express, no-line, private trip tickets because when we went up the funicular in George Town there was an hour long line. We did not want to have to stand around int he heat so we got the express tickets. As it would turn out we unknowingly got two sets of these tickets. We did not need two separate gondola cars but, since we bought then through a third party app, we couldn't take care of it at the counter. Rather than send an email. hope for a response and hope that the response would have been on our favor, we had them print out all the tickets. We then took the second set of tickets and gave them to the next pair of customers that were walking up to the ticket kiosk. This pair was a couple from France. We made their day!
Walking up to the bast of the Cable Car
Tiger on the roof
Big smiles from the French couple
Gather all your strength for this epic climb
Not fancy enough for us to ride in
We are in motion
A bird rode the cable up with us
Still a long way to go
Looking back at the coast
The little tourist village at the base of the hill
First hurdle
Looking down the trees are so small
Some sort of construction rig
Now we are hanging out there
Long way down
The up cars are hanging lower than down direction cars
The second leg is further above
The cage that we were riding in
Dense Rain Forest
We could hear birds and monkeys calling from down below
the new platform is off to the right
We have gained so much altitude
The jungle below
A shear cliff
In addition to the breeze in our cabin, we got a see through floor
Top of the world
I don't think there is an alternative trail up this mountain
It is beautiful here
Almost back on solid ground
This ridge has a silhouette of a face
Luckily this is still under construction, it would be too much for one day
It was substantially cooler up top
Team Leip, in the flesh
The white dot in the center of the shot along the inlet is our hotel
The gondola cars look so small from up on top
It is certainly steep
There is the Danna
Our new VIP car
Very Important Indeed!
The next adventure is just another cable car ride away
More construction down low
The hills are alive
